5 Tips to Becoming a Better Public Speaker |
| 1. |
Know your stuff. For some of us scaredy-cats, preparation means memorization, and there’s really nothing wrong with that, as long as you can make your words appear casual rather than rehearsed. |
| 2. |
Practice, practice, practice. With strangers. With a tape recorder. In front of a mirror, your children, your parents or friends. On video. Wherever you can, even while you’re driving. |
| 3. |
Listen to others speak, and watch them listen. Babies get their verbal cues from watching others, and you can too. |
| 4. |
Find a friend. During your presentation, pick out two or three friendly faces spread throughout your audience, and establish eye contact. |
| 5. |
Don't attempt too much. Your audience will probably only take away two or three solid points from your presentation, so less might be more. |
