5 Ways to Shake Off the Sleepies |

A splash of cold water. Sometimes the oldest tricks are the best ones. Splashing a little cold water onto your face might just be enough to close those pores and open those eyes. |

Brew coffee. The smell of hot coffee is invigorating even to those who don’t drink it. |

Rotate your alarm clocks. Our brains get so used to the familiar sounds of our alarm clocks that they don’t work as well after a while. Use varying alarm noises -- buzzers, music, etc. -- to keep your brain waves guessing. |

Schedule early meetings. Arrange phone calls, appointments and conferences for first thing in the morning. |

Have your mom call. You can’t snooze your mother or let the answering machine pick up in good conscience. The guilt alone would be enough to get you out of bed. |
