5 Ways to Improve Your Focus |
| 1. |
Minimize external distractions. Pull out your internet connection, turn off your cell phone, hang a "gone fishing" sign on your front door... whatever it takes to lessen the possibility of someone interrupting you. |
| 2. |
Shoo away mental diversions. It's easy to lose focus and daydream, particularly when you're working on something that you find challenging or boring. When this happens (and it happens to all of us), gently brush aside those deviating thoughts, and remind yourself to stay on track. |
| 3. |
Take it one step at a time. Often we're working on one thing and worrying about the next or what we might forget, and nothing gets our full attention. Instead, make a list of all the things you need to do, and give yourself a block of time to finish each one. Set an alarm, if you have to, so you don't keep looking at the clock. |
| 4. |
Drink water regularly. Did you know that one of the first symptoms of dehydration is a headache? Yes, between those synapses of your brain is water, so drink up! |
| 5. |
Go to sleep. A rested mind is a focused mind. If nothing else is working, take a quick nap. You'll be surprised at how invigorated you feel after just 20 minutes of shuteye. |
