5 Tips for Being Good to Your Hands this Winter |
| 1. |
Use a mild pH soap when washing your hands, and moisturize them afterwards with a lotion that contains ingredients, such as shea butter, that help lock in your skin's natural moisture. |
| 2. |
Moisturize from the inside too. Stay hydrated. Drink lots of water. |
| 3. |
Perform gentle hand and finger exercises regularly. Try the "Thumb Walk": Holding your wrist straight, form the letter "O" by lightly touching your thumb to each fingertip. After each "O", straighten and spread your fingers. |
| 4. |
If you don't mind them, wear gloves while washing dishes. Dishwashing liquid may dissolve grease and dirt, but it strips your skin of its natural oils too. |
| 5. |
Don't forget about your wrists! A keyboard tray will help keep your wrists level while typing, or just adjust your chair so that your keyboard and mouse are below your elbows. |
